Small or Large Enterprise External Split DNS
Using its Views capability, SolidDNS™ allows for the segregation of DNS data, in a deployment known as "split DNS."
The Views function allows the delivery of DNS data to be tailored according to the clients requesting it. A single SolidDNS™ machine, for example, can respond differently to internal and external queries, securing DNS information from unauthorized clients. An internal client querying a domain may be directed to an internal or confidential server, while an external client querying the same domain may be directed to the publicly accessible website.
Split DNS can also be used for separating DNS responses of authoritative queries from hosts coming from different networks through the use of Access Control Lists (ACLs).
The diagram shows a single SolidDNS™ appliance providing two separate sets of responses to queries for DNS data: one for queries from external clients and another one for queries from internal clients.
