Malaysian Government Poised to be IPv6 Compliant in 2012
The Malaysian government has targeted 2012 year-end to be fully IPv6 compliant, according to Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Joseph Salang. He added that some government agencies are already in compliance while others are starting the transition process.
At the opening of the 2011 Regional IPv6 Conference, Minister Salang stated that the Malaysian government also encourages key industry players who are still using IPv4 to migrate to the new Internet protocol by next year, which may help prevent profit losses due to problems in communicating with clients using IPv6.
Asia Pacific IPv6 Task Force Chair Dr. Sureswaran Ramadass is proud to admit that Malaysia has not only instigated the transition of IPv6 in its own nation but also worldwide. Universiti Sains Malaysia, through the National Advanced IPv6 Centre, has trained about 3,000 network engineers so far -- 1,000 of whom are Malaysians.
