Internet Draft on Flexible DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in Mobile Networks Out
The Network Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force has released an Internet Draft that addresses IPv6 prefix management issues in cellular networks.
Released in May, the draft proposes the use of DHCPv6 prefix delegation capability to address the issues. It also describes methods for allocating variant IPv6 prefixes to fixed nodes connected to the Internet with a cellular link.
The working group has noted that prefix management is one of several migration issues encountered by those deploying IPv6 in cellular networks. The draft, entitled "Flexible DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in Mobile Networks", hopes to address these issues. Internet drafts of this nature are often precursors of RFCs, the standards used for the Internet and Internet-connected systems.
