Geographical Filters
Using Views, SolidDNS™ supports the use of geographical filters. This feature allows a single SolidDNS™ server to customize the DNS data in its responses to queries depending on the designated location of the client’s IP address.
The diagram shows how a SolidDNS™ appliance can reply with different DNS data to clients from different known locations (in this example, IP addresses known to be assigned to the Philippines, Japan, and New Zealand) querying the same domain. Clients are effectively redirected to domains corresponding to their country of origin (.ph, .jp, and .nz). Client locations not specified in the filter (in this example, Client 4), receive DNS data from the default View, which is not specific to geographical location.
