About BIND
The Berkeley Internet Name Daemon (BIND), also known by its service name or binary executable, named, is the most commonly used Domain Name System (DNS) server software on the Internet. BIND is currently maintained by the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC).
The latest version of BIND now supports IPv6, DNSSEC, TSIG, DNS notify, nsupdate, IPv6, rndc flush (remote name daemon control), views, and multiprocessors. It is notoriously difficult to maintain BIND DNS configurations manually and some companies have developed DNS appliances with user-friendly interfaces to BIND.
